Prestigious Training and Research
A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Shah's impressive academic journey began with honors at the University of Virginia, where she was an Echols Scholar. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the prestigious Oliver Holmes Prize for Excellence in Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Foundation Excellence Award.
During her medical training, she was also awarded a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship and concurrently earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University as the recipient of the Reed-Frost Scholarship.
She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed an international elective in small incision cataract surgery, followed by a prestigious cornea fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School, where she was selected as a Heed Fellow, the country's higher honor for any graduating opthamologist. Dr. Shah is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Shah is also a Medial Advisor to the American Diabetes Association, where she focuses on advancing access and quality of ophthlamic care for patients with diabetes.
Dr. Shah is passionate about service and global health. She has performed surgeries in underserved communities throughout West Africa, Southern India, and beyond, and also provides charitable care locally within her practice and community—making service to others an integral part of her medical mission.
