Laser / Lasik

Freedom from Glasses and Contacts

If you're tired of relying on glasses or contact lenses, LASIK may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Dr. Shah specializes in this popular and effective procedure, which can correct common vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. LASIK is a permanent vision correction that has helped millions of people achieve clear vision and a more active lifestyle.

How the LASIK Procedure Works

LASIK stands for "Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis." The entire procedure is quick and generally painless, taking only a few minutes per eye. Here’s a simple breakdown of what Dr. Shah will do:

Preparation

To ensure you're comfortable, Dr. Shah will first use special numbing drops on your eye.

Creating the Flap

A precise femtosecond laser is used to create a very thin, hinged flap in the cornea (the clear, dome-shaped front of your eye). This flap is gently lifted to expose the tissue beneath it.

Reshaping the Cornea

A second, highly-advanced excimer laser is then used to reshape the underlying corneal tissue. This laser removes microscopic amounts of tissue to correct the eye’s focusing power. The treatment is customized to your unique prescription.

Flap Repositioning

After the reshaping is complete, Dr. Shah carefully lays the corneal flap back into its original position. It acts as a natural bandage and begins to heal immediately without the need for stitches.

Benefits and Recovery

One of the greatest benefits of LASIK is the rapid recovery

Many patients notice a dramatic improvement in their vision within just a day. While some people may experience mild irritation or blurriness initially, these symptoms usually resolve quickly.

Under Dr. Shah's care, the goal of LASIK is to provide you with the freedom to see the world clearly, often without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
